Arrive at Asahikawa airport and start Asahikawa city sightseeing – Asahiyama zoo, Otokoyama sake factory, ramen village etc. Then drive to Sounkyo – gorges stretching for 24 kms along the Ishikari River. See waterfalls called “Ginga-no-Taki” and “Ryusei-no-Taki”. Autumn leaves this area around end of Sep. Lodging is Sounkyo onsen resort.

2 options here to enjoy autumn leaves, one is Mt. Kurodage ropeway and the other is Ginsendai. Must be very busy if the best timing to go. Then drive to Shiretoko area. When approaching there, ”Road that Leads to the Sky” is a good photo spot. Another short photo stop at Oshinkoshin waterfall and arrive at Utoro – the base of national park.

Today is the highlight of the tour, cover with 2 national parks. First one is Shiretoko national park. Hike five lakes walking trail and take a cruise to see wild bears. 2nd one is Akan Mashu national park which include lake Kussharo, lake Mashu and volcano Mt. Iou. Final destination is lake Akan and stay Akan onsen faces the lake.

After breakfast short drive to lake Onneto to see autumn laeves. The lake is also called Goshikinuma because it beautifully changes color from light blue to green and dark blue. Then head to Furano area via Tokachi area. Farming experience, potatoes/yams picking available till the end of Oct there if prefer. Stay in Furano, the exact geographic center of Hokkaido, tonight.

First do sightseeing Furano area. Tourist attractions are cheese factory, jam garden, farm Tomita etc. Then move to Biei town. Drive the road called “patchwork road” and “panorama road” to see autumn field. Shikisai-no-oka panorama flower garden, Shirahige falls, Aoi-ike blue pond must be beautiful this season. Then drive to Sapporo city
Overnight in Sapporo

Sapporo sightseeing such as Shiroi koibito park, seafood market, Mt. Moiwa before heading for New Chitose airport. It takes almost one hour. And spend some time to do your last minute shopping in the airport or factory outlet mall near the airport.
