THEME
- The focus will be on the Kamikawa Aynu, who live in Asahikawa City and Kamikawa Town, which are located in Daisetsuzan National Park.
- The Kamikawa Aynu, who live alongside the Kamuy, were designated a Japan Heritage site in 2018.
- By learning about the Kamikawa Aynu and experiencing the relationship between the Kamuy and the mountains and nature they actually worship through hiking, participants will be able to experience the value of Geo x Aynu.

Stay in Sounkyo Onsen
It is a touristy hot spring resort town in the north of Daisetsuzan National Park. Located in a scenic, narrow gorge that is flanked by 100 meter high, forested cliffs. Sounkyo offers a pleasant village center, onsen baths and two beautiful waterfalls nearby. It is also a good base for hiking tours into the national park with ropeway access to nearby Mt. Kurodake.
Place to stay
・In the first half of the tour, participants will get a sense of what the Kamikawa Aynu are, what their way of thinking was, and where they lived, thereby helping them to better understand the meaning of “living with Kamuy.”
・In the second half of the tour, participants will learn about the mountain worshiped by the Kamikawa Aynu from a geo perspective at the visitor’s center, and by connecting this to a hike, they will be able to experience the value of geo x Aynu.
